SAINT PETER FESTIVITIES

PATRON SAINT OF FISHERMEN AND THE PRIMITIVE VICARAGE OF THE PORT DE POLLENÇA

In Port de Pollença they celebrate Saint Peter’s, the fishermen and earliest parish Patron Saint.

During some days around 29th June, there are popular and traditional dances, bagpipers meetings, concerts, homage to old fishermen, habaneras, marine exhibition, etc.

This celebration was held in Pollença town at the beginning of the XX century, but just before the 1930’s it moved to Port de Pollença, as most of the fishermen established in that village. Then it was the unofficial Patron Saint of the Port de Pollença. When the new parish church dedicated to the Mare de Déu (Virgin) del Carme was created, the patron festival were dedicated to the Mare de Déu on the 16th July.
